they and any other OEM ballasts are much cleaner. Some brands show spikes but only a handful of extra volts over the supply (well filtered). I've never been able to disrupt a translator on the bench with an OEM ballast although there is a single case where it appears a customer had an issue with the 99 spec lights. All I can think is that this particular translator must have had a processor that was already a little unstable. (same reason processors are binned for stability with ranges sold as different clock speeds)
